Find out more below about my story and what led me to the world of Health Coaching

Not me, but this stock photo closely resembles the depths of my despair when I realized I had spent 20+ years in a career that no longer wanted be in. 😬

For 20+ years, I had lived with a series of debilitating auto-immune disorders. My doctors had given me every drug imaginable to treat the conditions, yet I still experienced daily pain, inflammation, fatigue and severe brain fog. I tried numerous diets, exercising more, yoga, and every herbal remedy under the sun that I could find. My symptoms eventually improved, but I still felt as if something was missing. In 2017, after a 10 day journey to Iquitos (Peru) for some soul searching, I gained major clarity about the “conditions” I was labeled with and about my life. I realized that I didn’t really LOVE my career (as a web programmer) any longer and needed some type of major life change. Ultimately, I came to a sense of pure clarity and awareness that being in front of a computer all day was severely impacting both my physical and mental health. In 2018, I made the plunge and decided to leave my corporate career in IT, began working part-time as an IT Coordinator for several non-profits while at the same time, I began a search for what I might do with my career and my life as a whole. I began a deep dive into anatomy & physiology and became fascinated by the interconnection between the mind and body along with the mysterious interplay between the biochemical and bioelectrical processes within our body and how these processes might impact our health. This path led me to take another deep dive into biophysics and all of the latest science around aspects of terrain theory and energy/frequency or “quantum” medicine.

By the time the pandemic hit in 2020, I decided that I could either start another Netflix movie/show marathon or actually hit the GO button on making a career shift. It was a close call, but I ultimately chose the latter, and enrolled at the University of Minnesota in their Masters of Arts program for Integrative Health and Wellness Coaching. I finished my graduate degree in the summer of 2024, and attained my NBC-HWC (National Board Certification of Health and Wellness Coaching) shortly thereafter. I started my own coaching business, (Root Health LLC) and I officially began the next chapter in my life and career! My health (physically, mentally/emotionally and spiritually) is still a work in progress, but needless to say I am in a much better state than I was in 2018 when this crazy journey of transformation began. I am currently off all prescription medications for my “auto-immune conditions” (medications my physicians told me I’d be on my entire life), and my pain, inflammation, brain fog and energy are all greatly improved!

Throughout my journey I have cultivated a profound respect for technology. Our tech-filled life has made our lives easier in many ways and has allowed us to stay connected with each other while giving us instant access to so much amazing information (including all the new science related to terrain theory, the microbiome, and biophysics). However from my perspective, our reliance on modern technology has also caused us to forget core ancestral wisdom related to how the body and mind work. Wisdom that taught us that our body is capable of healing itself when we create the right conditions for it. When we are in tune with the rhythms of nature/creation, watching the sunrise/sunset, keeping our feet on the ground as often as possible and putting clean water/food into our body we create the conditions for the body to repair itself. When we isolate ourselves from the land or our loved ones, eat processed food and drink water laced with chemicals while simultaneously immersing ourselves in EMF’s and blue light from LED-lit screens we ultimately subvert our body’s innate ability to heal itself.

In short, we often think of what we need to ADD to the body (or mind) in order to heal, but more often than not, it’s what we REMOVE from our daily experience that allows body to achieve greater homeostasis and equanimity mentally and physically. It took me 20+ years to realize that most important technology of all is the divine technology of the human body and that tending to our health and wellness is of the utmost importance to ourselves, our families and the world around us.
